Cody Glass scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Milwaukee Admirals to a 4-2 win over the Texas Stars Friday at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
The Admirals have won nine of the team’s last 10 games and have recorded points in 11 of the last 12 contests (9-1-0-2).
Texas claimed a 1-0 lead at 6:28 of the first period when Curtis McKenzie deflected a point shot from Ben Gleason into the goal for a power play marker.
Milwaukee tied the game with a power play tally at 10:07 of the first frame. Glass received a pass at the right post and deked his way to a backhanded goal. It was Glass’s sixth goal of the season and second on the power play. Matt Luff and Jimmy Huntington picked up helpers.
The Admirals snagged a 2-1 lead with another power play goal at 13:13 of the opening period. Rocco Grimaldi tapped a puck free to Cole Schneider at the Stars left circle. Schneider spied a wide-open Cole Smith in the right circle and Smith slammed a one-timer past Adam Scheel for his 10th goal of the year. It was Smith’s fourth power play goal.
The Stars tied the game with a power play goal at 3:00 of the second stanza. Riley Tufte slapped a shot that was initially blocked into the cage for his ninth goal of the season.
Glass’ second of the game at 6:15 of the third period proved to be the game-winner. Huntington had the puck behind the Stars net. Huntington fed a pass to the slot and Glass, who found a soft spot in front of the net, forced the puck into the goal for his second of the game. It was his third game-winning goal of the season. Huntington and Egor Afanasyev had the assists.
Glass chipped the puck out of the Ads zone late in the game to Cole Schneider. Schneider scored into an empty Stars goal at 19:01 to seal the victory.
Ads goalie Connor Ingram stopped 19 shots to earn his 19th win of the season.
Milwaukee and Texas will play again in Cedar Park, TX Sat., Feb. 12. The Admirals return home Wed., Feb. 16 to host the Rockford IceHogs at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
