Goalie Connor Ingram stopped 40 shots to lead thew Milwaukee Admirals to a 2-1 shootout win over the Iowa Wild Wednesday at Wells Fargo Arena.
Milwaukee maintained its hold on third place in the Central Division with the victory. Milwaukee’s magic number to clinch a playoff spot is now 3 points. It was Milwaukee’s sixth straight win over the Wild in the season series.
Ingram was busy in the third period and overtime. The Admirals goaltender stopped 14 third period shots from the Wild and another six in the overtime session.
In the shootout both Cole Schneider and Graham Knott scored for Milwaukee. Iowa’s two shooters were thwarted by Ingram.
Iowa scored the first goal at 7:00 of the second period. Joe Hicketts’ shot from the point went through a screen into the goal of this 11th goal of the season.
The Admirals tied the game at 8:06 of the second frame. Schneider’s shot from the left circle sailed over the glove of Iowa goalie Zane McIntyre. It was Schneider’s 28th goal of the season. Jake McLaughlin and Jimmy Huntington were awarded assists on the tally.
Milwaukee returns home Sat., Apr. 19 to host the Wild at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. It will be the 19th time this season the Admirals have played consecutive games against the same opponent.
