Novak Stays Hot to Start Season

The 2020-21 AHL season kicked off this past weekend and while the Admirals are not playing as a team, most of the familiar faces and prospects are on the ice. Many, but certainly not all, of the players at the AHL level are skating with the Chicago Wolves this year. However, there are Predators prospects in Tucson, Cleveland and Texas well.

For the second straight season the Preds are using the Florida Everblades as their affiliate in the ECHL.

Here’s a look at the top performers from this week of players who might have been in Milwaukee:

·        Tommy Novak was the top point producer last week, recording a goal and two assists, including two assist performance on Saturday night in a win over Rockford

·        Fresh off the world championships, Philip Tomasino got off to a quick start on his pro career with a pair of assists on Friday night as the Wolves beat Grand Rapids to start the year. Just 19 years old, Tomasino is only eligible to play in the AHL because the OHL is currently shutdown because of COVID.

·        Tanner Jeannot and Rem Pitlick also found the back of the net over the weekend for their first tallies of the season.

·        Cole Schneider was named Captain of the Texas Stars last weekend. He did not record a point as Texas split a pair of games with Iowa.

Playing for the Tucson Roadrunners, Josh Wilkins picked up an assist as the Roadrunners earned a 2-1 OT win over San Jose to begin the year.
