Goalie Andrew Hammond stopped 26 shots to lead the Iowa Wild to a 5-0 win over the Milwaukee Admirals Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena.
It was the first time the Admirals have been shutout in the 2020-21 season.
Hammond improved his record to 3-0 in his career against Milwaukee. He has allowed just one goal on 88 shots in those three contests.
Iowa grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first period. Defenseman Joe Hicketts blasted a snapshot from the left circle over goalie Connor Ingram’s right shoulder at 16:43 of the first period. The Wild made it 2-0 when Nick Swaney converted a turnover with a wraparound goal at 18:49.
The Wild added two more goals late in the second period to take a 4-0 lead into the second intermission. Adam Beckman scored a power play goal from the right circle at 18:11 and Marco Rossi scored after he was left unguarded in front of the Admirals net at 19:18.
Ingram was replaced for the third period by Devin Cooley. Iowa’s Mitchell Chaffee closed the scoring with his third goal of the season at 2:38 of the third period.
The Admirals will stay in Iowa for a game Sun., Nov. 14 at 3pm. Milwaukee’s next home game is Wed., Nov. 24 against the Grand Rapids Griffins at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
