The Milwaukee Admirals scored three power play goals to skate past the Chicago Wolves 3-1 Saturday at Allstate Arena.
The win keeps Milwaukee in third place in the Central Division with a points percentage of .574. Rockford is In fourth place at .566.
Milwaukee scored twice on a five-minute power play in the third period. Richard Panik was assessed the major penalty and a game-misconduct for a boarding penalty against the Admirals Brayden Burke. The game-winner was scored during a scramble in the crease. Cole Schneider slid the puck into the goal for his 29th goal of the season. It was Schneider’s 11th power play goal. Cody Glass and Tommy Novak earned the assists.
The Ads scored again on the same power play when defenseman Alex Biega deflected a Burke pass into the goal for his fourth goal of the season. That closed the scoring. Marc Del Gaizo, along with Burke, garnered assists.
Chicago scored the only goal in the first period. Immediately after a face-off win, Josh Leivo’s shot from the slot dribbled through the legs of Ads goalie Connor Ingram at 6:00 of the first frame. It was Leivo’s 21st goal of the year.
Milwaukee tied the game with a power play goal in the second period. As Jimmy Huntington and Egor Afanasyev battled for possession in the right corner, Admirals forward Burke found a spot in the left circle. Huntington fed him a pass and Burke ripped a shot inside the right post at 8:14 for his first goal as a member of the Admirals, and his seventh goal in the American Hockey League this season.
Goalie Connor Ingram earned his 30th win of the season with 28 saves.
Milwaukee returns home Sun., Apr. 24 to host the Manitoba Moose at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
