Ads Pick Up 4th Straight Win

Cody Glass recorded three points and Rocco Grimaldi totaled a goal and an assist as the Milwaukee Admirals defeated the Chicago Wolves 4-3 in a school game Tuesday morning at Allstate Arena.

Milwaukee goaltender Devin Cooley stopped 26 shots in his second straight victory as the Ads picked up a fourth win in a row.

The Admirals used a four-goal second period to power themselves to a second consecutive victory in the series with the division-leading Wolves.

Milwaukee (24-19-2-2) has taken a point in all contests except one over the last month, owning an 11-1-0-2 record since Jan. 14.

The first period was all Chicago, as the Wolves started the scoring with 5:08 remaining in the opening frame when David Gust took a pass in front of the net and converted.

Chicago expanded its lead to 2-0 less than three minutes after, with Stefan Noesen capitalizing on a scrum in front of Cooley on the power play.

However, Cody Glass opened the second period with an unassisted breakaway goal just 22 seconds into the frame. Glass intercepted a Chicago pass, carried the puck across the blue line and fired a shot that was saved by goalie Alex Lyon, but Glass followed his own shot and buried the rebound.

Cole Schneider leveled the score at 2 a few minutes later, firing home a one-timer off a back-handed feed from Grimaldi on a two-on-one.

Matt Luff gave the Ads their first lead of the matchup over 10 minutes into the sandwich period, managing to backhand a shot under Lyon’s right pad despite falling to his back.

Grimaldi then made it 4-2 with five minutes to go in the middle stanza, converting on a one-time wrist shot off a feed from Glass.

Josh Leivo tightened the Admirals’ lead on a power play marker in the third frame, beating Cooley nearside on a shot from the bottom of the circles to make the score 4-3.

Chicago outshot Milwaukee 12-3 in the final period, but Cooley turned aside all but Leivo’s shot to preserve the Ads victory.

The Admirals return home for their next contest, hosting the Rockford IceHogs tomorrow, Wednesday Feb. 16, at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
