Five in a Row for the Ads

Milwaukee, WI— Jake Lucchini and Grigori Denisenko both  had a goal and an assist and Spencer Stastney picked up two assists, giving the Admirals the edge over the Rockford IceHogs with 2-1 victory on Sunday afternoon at Panther Arena.

This win was the fifth in a row for the Admirals and kept them two-points up on Texas for the Central Division title with one game left on the season. This was also Coach Karl Taylor 243rd win as the coach of the Admirals, making him the winningest coach in Milwaukee AHL history.

Magnus Chrona stopped 27 of the 28 shots he faced to grab his 12th victory of the season.

The Admirals found the back of the net first when Lucchini scored his 20th of the season marking the second consecutive game scoring the opening goal. Defenseman Spencer Stastney picked out winger Denisenko who’s shot was saved but the rebound fell to Lucchini where his shot beat Rockford’s goalie Mitchell Weeks stick side.

The Admirals doubled their lead on the goal from Denisenko with 14:16 left in the second period. This was Denisenko’s 16th goal of the season. The play started after Stastney dangled his way out of pressure and put a shot on target. Rockford IceHogs goaltender Weeks made the first save but Denisenko was there for the easy rebound tap-in

With 12:35 left in the third period Rockford got on the scoresheet. Winger Kevin Lombardi was credited with the goal after a not so friendly bounce in the Admirals zone resulted in Lombardi’s second of the year. The rest of the period the Admirals managed the clock well and were able to close the game out.

Milwaukee improved to 39-21-5-6 with the win and will faceoff against the Chicago Wolves on Friday April 18th at the Panther Arena in the final regular season contest.
